What is financial planning? Is it just investing?
It’s a common misconception that financial planning is just making investments, which isn’t true. At it’s core, financial planning is a strategic way of looking at what you want to achieve over the course of your life, the amount of money you would need to fund those goals, and how to get you there financially. While investments are a strategy that can be used in financial planning to achieve those goals, it’s not one and the same, and just because you don’t want to invest, or think you have “enough money” to invest (which is also a misconception), doesn’t mean Financial Planning isn’t something that would benefit you!
Why is financial planning important?
If you have big goals to travel a lot, retire at a certain age, have kids, live a certain lifestyle, build generational wealth to support your children or grandchildren, but you don’t have a clear picture of a) how much money those goals require or b) what strategies and decisions you need to make those goals happen, you’re just guessing – and that means you’re not making informed choices. Financial planning gives you a clear goal and direction, it gives you peace of mind, it gives you a way of predicting how financially secure you’ll be in the future.
How long does a Financial Health Check take?
The initial Financial Health Check consultation with our Director, James Stephen, is one hour. However, there may be some follow up required if you’d like to look into some of the suggested strategies from than initial consultation.
What does the financial planning process involve?
We take a three-pillar approach to financial planning – 1. Strategy, 2. Wealth, 3. Protection. Firstly, we sit down with you and get to know your current financial situation, and your goals (where you want to be), and then build a holistic strategy to get there.
